The Effective Ways on How to Turn the Crisis into Opportunities

September 5th 2009 21:41
Yesterday, I went out with my family to downtown. We’ve planned to have an “One day tour” to the famous tourists attractions inside the town. Everything was so fined, until we’ve met our relative, Janice inside the local ancient artifact Museum (Gosh, it’s really a small, small world indeed)!

In the beginning, we didn’t notice Jensen was visiting the museum as well, until we walked to the second floor and my father accidentally bumped onto a person’s back (Maybe my father was too obsessed with the ancient artifacts) straightly!

The person turned around, and guessed what! She’s Janice, my parents’ niece and my elder cousin. We’re shocked and stumbled awhile before we starting to give a friendly hug to each other.

To be honest, Janice is a volunteer in World Vision and he’s always move from one place to another place to help other people in the past seven years. Due to this reason, we’re seldom having the opportunity to sit down and have a proper chat, even though on the important festivals!

Without wasting a minute, we went to the nearby cafeteria to continue our conversation. During the talk, we discovered that Janice had decided to quit her volunteer job to help her husband, Eddie. She said Eddie has sacrificed too much for her, by letting her doing whatever she wants. Now, Eddie’s company is having business insolvency, and it’s time for her to return the favor.

We’re curious and asked her what type of business insolvency that Eddie’s company currently facing. Janice said the company is having the balance sheet insolvency problem, which is due to the global financial crisis. She told us that Eddie wasn’t able to pay off the company’s debt for the last three months, if they didn’t figure out some killing strategies to overcome it, then it’s big possibility that Eddie’s company is going to be declared bankrupt very soon…

The even worse thing was some of the company’s managers have been resigned from the company, as Eddie was unable to pay their salary on time and having some very hard arguments. He was totally frustrated and devastated, but he has no ideas what to do with this dilemma!

After Janice told us the whole story, we started to see there’s some tears in her eyes. I encouraged her not to give up so easily, as there is always the solution for every matter.
Well, I told Janice, there are two important things she has to solve first. Firstly, she must immediately back to the company and follow up the company balance sheet. Check and trace out what are the main causes of the negative net assets. Cut off the unnecessarily expanses and standby an amount of cash, which is can be used as the “Emergency cash” for the emergency cases.

Secondly, they might want to consider using the interim management, as it’s one of the effective solutions, especially for a company which is currently having a financial crisis. I told her that the interim management is only a temporary provision of management resources and skills. It’s the best way to overcome the empty managers’ positions, which is now the biggest threat for the Eddie’s company!

Janice took my advices and agreed to give it a shot. She asked if she could contact me, when she’s having some problems in the future. I said, “Why not, as you is always my beloved cousin!” She was appreciated on our help and thanked us repeatedly…

Well, although our “One day tour” had been spoiled, but my parents said it’s one of the best day ever in their life, as they’ve the chance to help Janice and Eddie. Hopefully, they’re able to turn the crisis into opportunities!
