Colombia is known as the second largest producer of biodiesel and ethanol in South America after Brazil. So far, the government is very proud of their achievement.
However, the human rights groups in Colombia didn’t seem to be happy with the current situation.
There critics had warned the Colombia’s government about the cultivation of palm trees to produce biodiesel is a big threat to Colombia’s indigenous groups!
Deep into the rural areas in Colombia, some of the minorities have been forced to move away from their homeland without any compensation!
The United Nations had already stopped the investment in the biodiesel and ethanol production sector in Colombia since last year.
UN food chiefs warned the Colombia’s government that they had to review urgently their policies, especially they have to balance point in between the growing crops for foods and fuel.
The point is would Colombia’s government accept the suggestion from United Nation’s food chiefs?
Well, let’s wait and see the progression…
