  1. who cares. The Australian aviation market is so small as to be uninteresting. Qantas barely makes money and it's passenger barely makes it a major air carrier. Virgin would be out of business had it not been 51% owned by Delta. It's revenue is less than 10% of United Airlines revenue.

  2. A true possibility, with possible connections to East Coast of Australia just like Qantas are doing and remote areas of Western Australia. On their London to Perth route. With the Virgin Australia subsidiary. Offering direct competition to Qantas, creating a market duopoly!

  3. Virgin Atlantic may operate the route but it will take some time for the route to be profitable as Qantas has gained consumer loyalty. For Virgin to attract consumers, it will have to lower its prices, Qantas will also respond by lowering their even further than Virgin's Price. As customers are still loyal and happy with Qantas, i highly doubt that they would easily switch to an airline they dont know how the services of that particular route function. They will eventually taste virgin's services on that route but if virgin wants to operate that route profitable, it should start by having a codeshare aggrement with Qantas, in that way they will be to attract customers but even if they don't, they got little to lose as compared to oerating the route only to find out you got no customers or little customers. At the end, a profitable route is characterized by its marginal revenue being greater than marginal cost. Therefore should they start as a codeshare aggrement with Qantas, they would be able to receive revenue for the customers who book via them but if no customers book, they will still be losing minor finances.
